On 10th March, 1915 the 2nd York & Lancaster battalion of 16 Brigade, 6th Division moved into trenches at Chapelle d’Armentiéres where they remained until relieved on 14th March. On 11th March, the day on which Maurice Cox was killed, the battalion was active with both machine-gun and rifle fire in support of the large offensive being carried out a bit further south at Neuve Chapelle. |
